Summer Reading Challenge success
Surrey Libraries are celebrating after 21,654 children participated in their Summer Reading Challenge events this year, an increase of 34% on 2023. More than 500 events took place in libraries across the county, with more than 525,000 children’s books issued during this time.
Author talk at Lingfield Library
Author Matt Graydon will be visiting Lingfield Community Library on Saturday, 2 November at 14.30 to discuss his latest book, Leaving Fatherland. This free event is suitable for adults – there is no need to book and there will be copies of Matt’s book available after the session.
Storytime sessions
Caterham Hill Library has free Storytime sessions for under 5s on the first Saturday of each month, beginning on 2 November from 11:30 until 12:00. Lingfield Community Library holds theirs every Thursday at 3:30. Oxted Library holds Build a Story sessions, with stories, songs and Duplo play.
No booking necessary.
National Self Care Week
Monday, 18 November to Sunday, 24 November is National Self Care Week. Caterham Valley Library is holding a series of events in support of this, including Rhymetime, Stay and Play, Mindfulness Day, an NHS App awareness session, Knit and Natter and Sketch Club. Author talk at Oxted Library
Ben Aaronovitch will be discussing his latest Rivers of London book with author Mark Stay at Oxted Library on Tuesday, 26 November, from 18:30 – 20:00. Tickets cost £7 and must be booked in advance, either through Eventbrite or at the help desk. Free parking will be available in the TDC car park next to the library and at Oxted Health Centre. Refreshments will be available, and books on sale courtesy of The Bookshop, in East Grinstead.
Computer support
If you require help with the everyday use of mobile phones, tablets or laptops, Warlingham Community Library offers walk-in computer support sessions every other Thursday from 10:00 until 12:00.
