Welcome to the 200th issue of the paper! As many of you will know, our newspaper began life in 2006 as the Caterham and District Independent, before changing its name to the Tandridge Independent in 2022. That came about because we wanted to reach, and connect, more people, organisations and businesses across Tandridge District.
This month also marks five years since I took over the paper, and what a roller coaster those five years have been – particularly as the pandemic hit us a mere three months after our relaunch. With perseverance and determination, my team and I ensured that we continued delivering local news, stories and information to the community, and it’s been onwards and upwards ever since.
As part of our anniversary celebrations we are now officially launching the Tandridge Independent Support Fund. It’s our way of giving something back to the community, so if you are an individual, community organisation or charity in need of a small grant for a specific purpose, make sure you register your interest by emailing funding@tandridgeindependent.com.
Inside the paper this month you’ll find our usual mix of advice and information from our columnists, including news about the MyTandridge account, the new Caterham Activity Cafe aiming to bring people living with memory loss or dementia together, and potential tax changes in the next budget. The football season is back underway and we’ve got round-ups from AFC Whyteleafe and Oxted Women FC for you too.
And of course, we’ve got lots of news about all the good things happening across the district: find out about the Horley Lions’ donation to Clifton Hill School, the amazing amount of money raised by The Bull Inn in Limpsfield for the Royal Marsden and The Hawthorn School’s champion U11 swim squad.
As always, we want to hear from you: do you have a story you’d like to share with our readers? Contact us on newsdesk@tandridgeindependent.com.
See you next month!
