Isn’t it lovely to see all the spring flowers out at the moment? Whytelefe Village Council’s column this month praises the effort of the fabulous volunteers who have planted thousands of bulbs across the village – a beautiful sight, I’m sure you agree. It also thanks all those Whyteleafe groups and residents who go out of their way to make Whyteleafe a connected and wonderful place to live.
Our front page story for March highlights the issue of unsightly phone masts: a group of residents are protesting against the potential erection of an O2 mast at the top of Beechwood Gardens in Caterham Valley, so we have listened to their concerns, as well as the views of other local interested parties.
Inside the paper, we are celebrating the launch of a new memory cafe in Oxted. After the success of their first cafe at their base in Crowhurst Lane End, Head2Head Sensory Theatre has opened another at the Master Park Hub, offering a warm and welcoming space for people living with dementia, their family and carers.
Talking of celebrations, Tandridge Heights Care Home recently threw a champagne receiption for resident Marjorie, as she reached her 101st birthday! Surrounded by her relatives, friends, care home staff and other residents, she also enjoyed a special birthday cake and a serenade from singer James Lyn. Happy birthday Marjorie!
It’s not long until the Easter holidays now, so we also bring you news of the Great Dragon Egg Hunt at Hever Castle – a definite must for any young adventurers among you. You can also take in the beautiful flower displays while you’re there…and the Water Maze will also be open, so be prepared to get wet if you visit!
