Local elections for councillors will be taking place in all wards across Tandridge District on Thursday, 2 May, as well as those for a Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner, and for parish councillors in Caterham on the Hill, Caterham Valley, Warlingham, Whyteleafe and Woldingham.
Following the recent boundary review, the number of wards in Tandridge District has been reduced from 20 to 18, and some ward boundaries have changed. Tandridge District Council is asking residents to check the polling card they will be receiving from 20 March, to ensure they know which polling station they should be voting at. New dog walking code issued
Surrey County Council introduced a new Code of Conduct for dog walkers in February. Working with local landowners and partners such as the National Trust, Surrey Wildlife Trust, Thames Basin Heaths Partnership and Surrey Hills National Landscape, the code explains the importance of picking up dog waste, why dogs need to be kept under control, particularly in regard to ground nesting birds and also highlights Surrey’s recommended number of dogs walked per individual.
Professional dog walkers are being encouraged to sign up to the code and, in return, will receive a car sticker which will show that ‘their business follows industry best practice in care and welfare, making every effort to respect the special qualities of the Surrey countryside.’

Call for funding applications
The Gatwick Airport Community Trust (GACT) is open for grant applications from local groups and charities. The trust has £250,000 of funding available for projects across its target area, which in Tandridge includes Bletchingley, Blindley Heath, Dormansland, Felbridge, Godstone, Hurst Green, Limpsfield, Lingfield, Nutfield, Outwood, Smallfield, South Godstone, South Nutfield and Tandridge village.
In 2023, GACT gave over £200,000 to more than 100 organisations, including Lingfield’s Bloomin’ Arts, the College of St Barnabas, and St Peter and St Paul Church, as well as The Bletchingley Skills Centre, Burstow Parish Council and Oxted’s Make a Scene Theatre Company.
The Fund supports schemes which benefit ‘diverse sections of the local community, and are targeted towards the development of young people, the arts, sporting facilities, environmental improvement and conservation, enhancements to community facilities, volunteering, the elderly and the disabled.
