New family artisan bakery opens in Old Coulsdon

A new branch of artisan bakery Coughlans has opened in Lacey Green Parade in Old Coulsdon. All products are handmade on site, and they pride themselves on using local suppliers in order to maintain quality and consistency.

One of the directors of the business, Sean Coughlan, explained that the bakery is a true family business, now in its third generation. Sean’s grandparents, who were residents of Coulsdon, founded Coughlans in 1937.

Wanting a shop in Old Coulsdon, seemed a natural progression for Sean as he lives a few minutes away.  Despite a few setbacks during the lockdown period, Sean and the team were still able to go ahead with the premises. He said that the Old Coulsdon community has been extremely supportive and he has been extremely overwhelmed by the kind messages they have received.

Coughlans Bakery has generously donated one of their signature rainbow cakes for one of our lucky readers – keep an eye on our social media for details of how to enter.
