This month, I am taking you to Italy. In October, Katharine and I attended a travel conference in the magnificent Sorrento, along with Jo and Lucy, who are part of our team. We were all really excited!
We flew to Naples with Easyjet, a two-hour, forty-five minute flight, followed by a coach transfer from the airport. The scenery along the Almalfi coast is just beautiful: a few hairy sharp bends and cliff drops to go with it, but we survived and arrived at the stunning Hilton Hotel.
Set high above the coast, it has amazing views (as long as you ask for a room with a sea view, however, as otherwise all you will see from your window is a rock!). There is a lovely bar and restaurant, with great food, drink and service, and terraces where you can sit and take in the gorgeous vista. The main pool, with its five subsidiary pools is fabulous, with plenty of loungers, and there is also a rooftop pool bar which was closed because it was late in the season – I would love to return to enjoy that another time.
And, of course, as Travel Smarter agents we obtained brilliant rates – a real perk of this job.
The first day of the conference was filled with presentations from our suppliers: they were so interesting and gave us an abundance of information that will really help us to ensure our clients get their perfect holidays.
Afterwards, we wandered down to the town to watch the sunset from the Hotel Syrene’s terrace, which hangs over the sea. It has a purple tiled floor which in summer is matched by the roof’s purple ivy, which looks incredibly pretty. We then climbed back up to the Hilton to get ready for dinner (you can also get a cab up, which is definitely easier after a big meal!).
We ate at the Hotel Favorita, where our company laid on a feast of five incredible courses: I have never tasted mozzarella like it and the pasta was so special. Later, we visited a square in the center of the town with bars and outdoor seating, where we people-watched…I didn’t want to leave!

The following day we headed to the beach. You have to climb down quite a way but there is also a lift that takes you down the sheer rock face. The restaurants and loungers are on pontoons so you can sit out in the sunshine.
We then chartered boats to take us over to Capri, an idyllic experience. We visited the lagoons, which at low tide you can swim into, and saw well-known rock formation the Kissing Elephants. We jumped into the sea by the famous Capri hole in the rock, and it was the perfect temperature.

That evening was our gala dinner at the Hilton. We all had to wear black and lemon (Sorrento is famous for its lemon trees) and there was champagne by the pool, followed by another five-course dinner, and a DJ. We had so much fun and danced a lot – what a memorable trip!
Katharine, and I are always looking for travel lovers to join us. As well as helping people organise their dream trips, earning commission and booking your own travel, you can also build a team and help others grow their business. No targets, no pressures. Anyone can do it in their own time, and we’ll be there to help every step of the way. We would love to share what we do with you, so drop us a message and we’ll tell you more. We also have online information meetings weekly which explain it all.
