We said goodbye and a big thank you to our previous manager Kelly Smith at the end of last season and we now welcome in Hayley Pickett-Bays, who will be taking over as first team manager – we are delighted!
Our pre-season is well underway, and we have been busy and working hard ahead of our first 2024/25 league match. Our first friendly saw us face South Park Reigate WFC. With a few girls trying out some new positions, new formations and our fitness, we unfortunately lost 2 -1 (Claire Dudfield scoring for Oxted WFC) but we took away a lot of positives and plenty to work on for the upcoming games.
We then played Ide Hill WFC and felt so much more confident – our fitness had improved after some hard team training. We found our feet and took the win 2-1, with two great goals scored by Leah Halpin and Becky Bays.
Our third pre-season friendly saw us travel to play TW Foresters’ second team. We only had the bare 11 players and it was a boiling hot day, but the squad put in a shift and we won 5-2, with goals scored by Becky Bays, Leah Halpin (2) and Kay Stenning (2). A fantastic result!
Our final friendly was against Old Tiffinians WFC. Due to some injuries we only had 10 women and of that 10 we still had a few struggling with injuries. We played 10 vs 10 in the end and came away with the win and a brilliant 4-0 result! Goals scored by Kayleigh Stenning, Kat Brown, Alex Rusk and Leah Halpin.
We have had a great pre-season with some fantastic results, and we are continuing to train hard ready for our first league fixtures in September:
