Letter from the Editor – February 2020

Welcome to February’s edition of the Caterham and District Independent.

Although it may still feel as though 2020 has only just begun, for those of us with children we are already almost half-way through the Spring Term. If you’re like me you’ll be looking forward to a break from packed lunches and the school run but if you’re not sure how you’ll survive a week of high-spirited kids, have a look at some of the local half-term activities for children. You’re sure to find something to keep them occupied and, hopefully, wear them out!

It’s Valentine’s Day on Friday 14th and so we have our ‘Messages Board’ for you to take a look at… could your name be on there?!

In January I mentioned that we were looking forward to handing over a regular page of the paper to Caterham Valley-based station Ridge Radio and I’m excited to say that this is where it begins. Each month they’ll be turning the spotlight on one of their fantastic presenters so you can find out more about why they love being behind the microphone and get a sneak peek behind the scenes in the studio.
I’ve been enjoying my own radio appearances on BBC Surrey, talking about current issues that are relevant to Tandridge residents. If you’re free on Mondays at 5.45pm then tune in to 104.6FM: I’d love you to listen along. And please get in touch if there is something you think I should be talking about.

Thank you for the great feedback we’ve been receiving about our new website.
(www.caterhamindependent.com). If you haven’t got a copy of the paper to hand then it’s a convenient way to catch up with all the articles we’ve published, along with community news and events and before I forgotten if you’d like to meet the team turn to Page 18!

I hope you enjoy reading the latest edition of ‘The Caterham and District Independent’ as much as my team and I have loved putting it all together – see you next month!
