Following on from our very successful 100 Years of Toys and Games Christmas exhibition, we're starting the new year with a fascinating display of kitchen equipment of yesteryear. This features many of the amazing tools and gadgets invented for preparing and storing food over the last 100+ years, as well as some of the ingredients and recipe books to go with them!
The exhibition will open on the 16 January and, like the rest of the museum, admission is FREE.
We are also working on a new programme of 10-minute lunchtime talks, with guest speakers covering a wide variety of subjects, as well as some new dates for our popular coffee mornings: details to be announced shortly.
Coming later in the year will be a major new exhibition to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of St Lawrence's Hospital/Caterham Asylum in 1870. St Lawrence's (and its predecessor) was a large mental health hospital based in Caterham until eventual closure in 1994.
Many local families would have connections to the hospital, either as employees or as users of the hospital's sports facilities. So, if you have any interesting items relating to the hospital, or memories that could be shared as part of the exhibition, please get in touch with us:eastsurreymuseum@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you in 2020!!
