Members at our October meeting were hugely entertained by Henry VIII, along with insights into his life and loves. This is one of the many personae developed by Tony Harris: he has been bringing his unique blend of history and comedy to the speaker circuit for some time and we were right royally regaled!
Unfortunately, our speaker for 9 November is unwell but in their place we are most fortunate to have another talk by Jennifer Godfrey, on the suffragette movement in Kent. This will be a follow-up to the talk we enjoyed in February, and Jennifer will delve deeper into the women we met then and tell us what became of them afterwards.
We shall be holding our Christmas party on Thursday, 7 December (not 14 December, as previously advertised) at Westerham Golf Club, when we hope to get the festive season off to a good start.
Westerham U3A is a charity run by volunteers, and which relies on members getting involved. Membership is just £20 per year (£35 per couple). We welcome you to join us at Westerham Village Hall at 10:30 on the first Wednesday of the month for coffee and chat, and on the second Thursday of the month at our 14:00 open meeting. There are also lots of interest groups you can join, from archaeology to yoga, full details of which are on our website, or you can call 01883 723207.
Learn for fun, develop an interest, meet new friends, listen to interesting speakers, join outings and events and make the best use of your spare time!
