Following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Dr Marcus Jones, chairman of Whyteleafe Village Council, has been liaising with Reverend Annie Kurk of St Luke’s Church, Whyteleafe about marking this sad occasion and helping the community grieve and pay their respects.
The St Luke’s website has been updated with details, as follows:
- St Luke’s Church has opened its doors to everyone in Whyteleafe as a place to pray and to enable people to pay their respects.
- Those wishing to bring flowers can lay them under the blossom tree at the front of the church and also tie a ribbon on the branches as a visible gesture of remembrance.
- The church will be open from Saturday, 10 Sept, up to and including Friday, 16 Sept (excluding Sunday 11), from 18:00 to 20:00, for private prayer and the opportunity to write in the Book of Condolence.
- On Sunday, 11 Sept at 9:30 we will be holding a Holy Communion Service. All are welcome.
Please visit St Luke’s website for further updates or changes or, alternatively, contact Rev’d Annie Kurk on 0208 7638504 for more information.
