July at St John's

The summer fair celebrating the Platinum Jubilee at St John the Evangelist was a great success, with an organ and piano recital in the church, a display of paintings, and lots of entries for our Hat for the Queen competition.

Many people remarked on the decorations at the front of the church and around the churchyard.

The choir has gained two new members, and music in July includes How Beautiful are the Feet from Handel’s Messiah on the 10th, John Rutter's Gaelic blessing on the 17th and Bob Chilcott's Be Thou My Vision on Sunday, 31st.

The organ music on the 31st will feature Rhosymedre by Ralph Vaughan Williams, which was played before the St Paul's Cathedral Platinum Jubilee Service, and Sir Edward Elgar's Imperial March. All the services start at 10:00, and will be live-streamed.

St John the Evangelist is on Clareville Road, Caterham Valley. Find out more at the church's website.
