Students from local schools joined with musicians from Woldingham School on Tuesday 1 March to enjoy making music and performing together.
The students had the opportunity to play alongside the London Mozart Players in a piece especially composed by Jeff Moore, which allows musicians of all levels to work together. The concert was a musical extravaganza, including other performances by the London Mozart Players, and individual music scholars from Woldingham’s Upper Sixth, who performed a concerto of their choice, accompanied by the visiting orchestra.
After all the restrictions imposed by Covid-19 it was an inspiring day: the young musicians enjoyed being able to meet other enthusiasts and play together. This was reflected in the title of the piece performed, ‘Press Play’, which epitomises the revival of ensemble music after so long spent apart.
