Children's writing competition 2022 – with The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle

The Tandrige Independent, in collaboration with The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle, is excited to introduce our new children’s writing competition!

We have family tickets to give away for two of the amazing shows featuring at the Festival this summer: David Walliam’s Awful Auntie, on 29 July, and theatre company Three Inch Fools’ production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, on 31 May.

To win tickets to Awful Auntie, we’re asking pupils in years 3 to 6 to create their own David Walliam’s character, and write a vivid description of them in no more than 200 words.

Students in years 7 to 11 are invited to rewrite a scene from a Shakespeare play, in modern English (maximum 500 words).

All entries must be submitted to competition@tandridgeindependent.com by Friday 13 May, and include the entrants name, age and school. Entrants and their family must be available to attend the performances on the above dates!

We will also be asking the winners to write a review of the show for publication in the paper.
