Dormansland Scarecrow Competition 2021

Following the cancellation of their carnival for the second year in a row, the organisers asked the residents of Dormansland to make this year's Scarecrow Competition the best ever. And the residents did not disappoint!

Over 40 imaginative figures appeared across the village in June, bringing smiles to the faces of those who spotted them. Driveways, gardens, fences, hedges, roofs, benches and trees were all adorned with cute, crazy and colourful characters, including Greathed Manor Nursing Home's Bert the Scarecarer, Dormansland Honey's David 'the beekeeper' Attenborough, a couple of unfortunate jockeys and a doctor with a painfully large syringe…

The judging took place on Saturday 26 June, with rosettes being awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as to those who were highly commended. See below for the winners – and take a look at Dormansland Carnival's Facebook page to see lots more of the entrants!
