Festival Theatre Hever Castle and The Caterham and District Independent

We are excited to to let our readers know about our collaboration with The Festival Theatre at Hever Castle. Between 29 May and 30 August 2021, The Festival Theatre will be hosting its 38th open-air festival, offering a variety of productions in the award-winning gardens of Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, and one of Kent's top tourist attractions.

The grounds will be home to four open-air theatres: Two Sisters Theatre, where the seating is tiered and under cover; The Loggia, in the tranquil Italian Gardens, with a magnificent lake view; Anne Boleyn's Walk, in a secluded ancient woodland glade, and The Main Lawn, which has a superb view of the castle. Audiences can choose where they would like to sit, pitching their chairs either under cover or beneath the sun or stars. The programme will include Shakespeare, family shows, classical music and opera.

The first performance of the Festival comes from The People's String Foundation, whose live album Res Publica was released in 2019. Musicians Ben and Zaid use music, puppetry, art, cinematography and animation, all set to music played by their 32-piece 'Virtual Gypsy Orchestra': a unique experience which is set to wow audiences.

As a media partner, The Caterham and District Independent team will be reviewing shows and bringing you updates on events, as well as offering our readers exclusive opportunities to win tickets. We'll also be inviting our work experience team to carry out interviews for us!

Festival Director Ailsa Molyneux says: "In addition to the Two Sisters Theatre, we are also playing in several picturesque (and safe) new venues at Hever in 2021. We have a delightful array of new performances playing for the first time at the Festival: there really is a show for everyone. It's going to be a season of optimism and joy this summer and we can't wait to see you there."

Tickets are bookable online at www.heverfestival.co.uk or via the Box Office on 01732 866114 (open Monday-Friday 9.30am-5pm).  To find out more about our work with Hever Castle, subscribe to our YouTube channel:The Caterham and District Independent.
