Dr Rees Davies was the GP at Bedford Lodge in West View Avenue in Whyteleafe. His son Dr Gerald Davies took over the practice in 1946 which was just a couple of years years before the NHS started in 1948. Dr Tun joined Dr Davies as a partner in 1985 and Dr Gerald Davies retired in 1990. Over the years many doctors have worked for the practice with Dr Asharia now being the new partner.
Whyteleafe Surgery, Station Road moved from Bedford Lodge to its current location in 1989 and Dr Tun has been an integral part of the practice since it first opened its doors. The practice has seen vast growth in its patient numbers in recent years resulting its patient database now being 6000.
The surgery is due to close on 12th April for refurbishment. Patients have been advised of the closure and they will have the option of attending Warlingham Green or Chaldon Road surgery. The extensive refurbishment work will result in a new floor being created which will accommodate more consulting rooms an administrative top floor, new lift, dedicated disabled toilets and wheelchair access and ultimately more space creating a bigger and more spacious waiting areas for patients.
We recently met with Dr Tun who explained "We're really excited that the surgery expansion will provide much improved services for another generation of our patients'.
It is estimated that the surgery will be ready to reopen and welcome back its patients to the site at the beginning of next year.
