Many of you will have known John Orrick who was an integral part of our community. He was first elected to Tandridge Council in 1997 and represented the people of Caterham-on-the-Hill on the Parish, District and County Councils. John helped improve the lives of many local people and was extremely respected within the community. He also offered support and encouragement to many.
Over the recent festive period (for a donation £5) residents were invited to write and place a dedicated message to a loved one inside a bauble which was then hung on the ‘John Orrick’s Memory Christmas Tree’. The tree on The Westway Green raised an incredible £2,489 and all proceeds will be going directly to The Westway Centre to help fund the Christmas at Home Scheme which has been set up for local residents. A team of volunteers have been returning the baubles to loved ones but there are still many which have been unclaimed. There is no charge for reclaiming them and the team will return each one in a Covid safe way to your door. To reclaim your bauble please send a private message with your address to ‘The John Orrick’s Memory Christmas Tree’ Facebook Page.
