‘Caterham Lockdown Fest 2.0’

November 2020 saw the first ‘Lockdown Fest’ in Caterham where Presenter, Emma B (Magic FM) introduced local talent and entertainment which was showcased across the Tandridge community via our Facebook page.

The end of last month saw ‘Caterham Lockdown Fest 2.0’ sponsored by Shard Solutions and Glebe House Nursing Home return to our doorsteps. The Fest was streamed via Facebook and also provided the perfect opportunity for officially launching our YouTube channel (The Caterham and District Independent) where exclusive content was featured and is still available to view.

The third lockdown has resulted in us having more time to think and reflect and look for ways to keep our bodies and minds occupied. With the wet weather and dark evenings it has been harder to maintain a connection with the community. Many people have been struggling with their mental health and wellbeing and so whilst attempting to boost morale and well-being within the community, the focus of the event was to encourage health, fitness and metal health awareness to local residents.

Throughout the day we also supported ‘The Pandemic Community Support Fund’ which has been created by ‘The Westway Community Cafe and Wellbeing Centre’. The fund has been created to help local families and residents who have been struggling to cope financially and viewers were invited to make donations to the fund by donating by the Just Giving page.
Singing, cooking, fitness and well- being talks filled the afternoon and as the evening drew to a close there was also the opportunity to pick up a glass of your favourite tipple while listening to Amanda ( Ridge Radio Presenter) who provided viewers with music but also a guided tour of our community radio station, Ridge Radio. All time classics from local band Randy and The Rockets, and also classical pieces from The London Mozart Players meant that the talent was both local and national.

Please do comment or give us feedback on the day. What did we do well? What are your recommendations and was there anything which you would like to see more of in the future? Email us at:fest@caterhamindependent.com
