Shine a light for Christmas – Cedar Tree lighting

In any normal year we would be looking forward to the annual Christmas lights. However, due to the pandemic, the Caterham on the Hill Parish Council will be taking a different approach for the Cedar Tree lighting this year.

To kick off with the usual festive spirit, every aspect that makes turning on the lights a firm favourite with local families will be available on the Parish Council’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/caterhamhillpc) alongside plenty of opportunities for everyone to take part from home.

The Parish Council plans to ‘broadcast’ a short programme which will include carol singing by local Primary Schools (where possible), a message from Santa and our Town Crier, followed by the exhilarating countdown to Santa switching on the lights at 6pm. The video is scheduled to start at 5:40pm on Sunday 29th November. We would like to ask as many families as possible to turn on their own lights at the same time to start the Festive Season. It would be fantastic to display this act of community at a time when we can’t be together.
Look out for more information on the Parish council’s website: (www.caterhamhillparishcouncil.co.uk) and their social media.
