Our team recently spoke with East Surrey Hospital about how they are currently coping with the pandemic. Michael Wilson CBE, chief executive at SASH said:
“Safety is our priority, to ensure the safety of our patients and everyone who visits or works at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust we have put in place thorough infection prevention control measures.
To enable us to keep protecting each other and for the continued safety of all of our staff, patients and the public who visit the hospital for appointments, are being asked and supported in practicing social distancing and we have provided mask and hand gel stations across the Trust. We encourage those that need hospital care whether planned or unplanned to attend as required and to be confident in our processes. We are keeping the number of people that need to visit our site to the minimum so we can safely provide care for those that need it in these difficult times. For that reason we also ask those that don’t need acute hospital care to use the other services available to them.
We have felt so supported by our local population and want to thank you again for this support. Please can we also remind members of the public that they too can play their part by following the national guidance to stay alert to control the virus and save lives with attention to hand hygiene, face coverings and social distancing.”
