North Downs Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK was proud to take part in fundraising for the Australian Bushfire Appeal on January 27th.
We decided to raffle unwanted Christmas gifts and held a cake sale to raise funds for those affected by the devastating fires that have swept across Australia.
As an Australian owned company, we felt it was important to do what we can to contribute to the relief fund.
Although the final total is yet unknown, we are hoping to reach £500.
There are over 30 Ramsay Health Care facilities across the country who all contributed to the fundraising event, and Head Office will match the amount of money raised with all the proceeds donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and County Fire Authority in Victoria.
The devastating images and news stories coming out of Australia due to the ongoing bushfire emergency has tragically claimed lives, destroyed properties, and forced people to be evacuated from their homes. Many of our Ramsay facilities and colleagues in Australia are directly involved in helping provide relief to volunteers and victims affected by the disaster.
The Paul Ramsay Foundation, set up in 2006 by Ramsay Health Care founder Paul Ramsay, was created with the ambition to break the cycle of disadvantage in Australia. In response to the bushfires, the foundation has publically pledged $30 million to the crisis. $3 million will be used initially to help with immediate relief efforts, with the further funding allocated to longer-term work with disadvantaged communities.
In solidarity with our colleagues in Australia and for all those affected by the bushfires, our Ramsay UK sites and staff will be hosting fundraising activities, between 9 January and Australia Day on 27th January 2020. Ramsay Health Care will match the amount of money raised by our teams and all proceeds will be donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and Country Fire Authority in Victoria.
